Graston Technique
The team of physical therapists at Health In Balance are now trained as preferred providers of the Graston Technique, an instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization technique that uses stainless steel instruments with unique treatment edges and angles to glide along a patient’s muscles, tendons, or ligaments to release soft tissue adhesions and restrictions.
Benefits of the Addition of Graston Technique:
Patients usually receive 1-2 treatments per week over a span of 4-5 weeks. The average number of treatments per episode of care ranges from 6 visits for acute cases and 12 visits for more chronic cases.
Decreases overall time of treatment

Dry Needling
Dry needling is an adjunct specialty skill to the manual therapy performed during a PT session. It is also available as a stand alone, cash pay service. At Health In Balance PT, we use our hands-on assessment to identify muscular trigger points that lead to tissue tightness, weakness, and poor movement patterns. Dry needling uses placement directly on the taut band of muscle fibers, in a way uniquely different from acupuncture, despite using similar filiform needles.
What to Expect:
Most patients feel results immediately that last hours to days. When combined with a complete therapy program we use that window of relief to restore normal movement habits for long-lasting change in your daily functioning. Side effects may be local soreness for 12-24 hours, which is a normal result of effective treatment. Bruising can occur in regions of blood vessels. No activity modifications are needed after needling- in fact using your newly gained movement from relief is encouraged! Session dosage varies depending on how long pain has been present, the number of muscles involved, and our overall goals for each patient care plan.
